Tell us a bit about your startup?

Perforgram started three years ago with three co-founders. I was a researcher at Dublin City University, and one of my co-founders was my PhD student. We both specialised in video processing. During COVID, we noticed streaming technology was becoming more critical, both professionally and personally.

We wanted to improve streaming by making it more interactive and solving latency issues. Our platform allows streaming to massive audiences—up to 1 million viewers—at ultra-low latency. This fixes the delay problem you often see in platforms like YouTube, where there’s a lag between real-time events and the broadcast. We built more services around this core technology.

Have you managed to secure any advisors since joining?

Yes, we secured our first customers in the USA last year and onboarded two advisors through Connectd, with a third advisor coming on board. One advisor focuses on business development and financial modelling, areas where we had little experience. Our second advisor is helping us understand how to grow and explore new market verticals. With their help, we’re much better equipped to scale now.

How have they helped your startup grow strategically and how does that change the year ahead?

Connectd introduced us to Ramon, our first advisor, who’s an expert in sales. He’s been working with us weekly, guiding us through sales strategy, product pricing and hiring decisions. He’s helped us structure our growth strategy from the ground up.

Through Connectd, I also found Rachel, our second advisor, who’s been helping us identify market verticals, evaluate opportunities, and fine-tune our pitch deck and business plan. We now hold regular meetings to discuss strategy and market insights, which have been incredibly useful.

What pain points does Connectd address for you?

We’re all tech-focused co-founders, so we lacked experience in business development and fundraising. Connectd filled that gap by providing us with advisors who have the right expertise as well as offering tools to help us refine our business model and strategy.

How important has it been bringing through boardroom experience as a first-time founder?

It’s been essential. There’s a lot of information online, but nothing compares to working directly with experienced advisors who’ve been through the process. Their expertise has fast-tracked our growth and prepared us to engage with investors in a way we wouldn’t have been able to on our own.
